Pledges/Sponsors
Sponsors
The best and easiest way to make a difference at Booksin is to become a T-Shirt Sponsor!
Our “T-Shirt Sponsors” have their logos displayed on our famous Walkathon T-Shirt, distributed to every Booksin Walker and purchased by many parents, as well!
Fill Out a T-Shirt Sponsor Agreement Today!
- Donate $500 to have a business logo displayed as a Sponsor.
- Donate $350 to join our “Family Honor Role” (Booksin Families only)
All Donors have a hand-painted banner arrayed along our walking course on Walkathon Day.
All Donors have their name/logo/URL displayed on our WAT website, itemized by gift category. Please be prepared to submit logo-ready art to our designer.
In-Kind Donors will have signs placed right next to the items as they are used or sold, indicating which company provided the item. If the company has specific signs or banners they can loan us (and they’ll fit reasonably at the booth), we’d be happy to do that as well.
If a company is interested in sponsoring a specific activity at Booksin with their donation, we can discuss the options and arrange an appropriately unique ‘thank you’ message and award.
Donors also receive a thank you banner hung on the Walkathon Course and a logo posted on our website!

Pledges for Students
Students may begin gathering Walkathon Pledges (flat pledges or per-mile pledges) starting on Monday, October 11, when Pledge Cards are sent home!
Ask relatives … Friends … Neighbors … Co-Workers!
Flat pledges and per-mile pledges are the largest portion of our Walkathon income, accounting for more than $110,000 last year. Every little bit helps!
For additional tips on helping students collect pledges, please review the 2009 Student Pledge Guide, which should have been attached to your Pledge Card.
How do I ask for pledges?
- Be straightforward and natural. Always be polite.
- Practice with your parents beforehand.
- Explain Walkathon is a fundraiser for Booksin School.
- Say how far you hope to you walk. It’s okay to be excited!
- Use your Pledge Card to show how the fundraising dollars are used by the school.
- Explain donors can give a “flat pledge,†which is a fixed amount of money. Or they can donate a “per-mile pledge.â€
Parents: We prefer flat pledges, which are simpler to manage. You can collect money on the spot, and flat pledges remove the “surprise factor†when your student walks much further than anyone expected!
Who is a donor? Family, grandparents, friends and neighbors are all great donors! Your parents are welcome to bring your Pledge Form to work for their co-workers (but only if they want to!). If you go door-to-door for donations, always bring a parent.
How much should you request? We suggest you ask for $20.00. Any donation is wonderful and will help the school.
What is a good fundraising goal? The 2009 goal was $200.00 per student.
Pledge Cards are to brought to campus on Saturday morning, October 23. Students turn them in at registration (opens at 8:15) and receive their Lap Card and Walkathon T-Shirt!
If you child has more sponsors than will fit on their Pledge card (front and back), please copy the back of the card and keep adding sponsors! The Pledge Card will also be available in the Download Section of this website.
