The Walkathon is a fun, day-long event filled with music, food and activities along with an entire day of walking by students, teachers, families and even alumnae! It is not unusual to see Kindergarteners walking 15 miles that day with some of the older children walking 20 and even 30 miles to make money for our school. Our students walked approximately 8000 miles in 2008! Meanwhile, parents, family and friends participate in an opportunity drawing and bid on gifts all day at the silent auction. With a net income of approximately $150,000 last year, the Walkathon directly funds an enhanced elementary school experience for your child – and every child – at Booksin School through augmented Arts and Technology curriculum, computers, field trips and teaching and classroom materials.
